Adoption FAQ’s

  1. Why adopt from Win Place Home?

We want our horses to have a successful future in a home where they will prosper. Whether it takes a week or a year or even longer to find their right home, that’s how long it will take. We are on the horse’s side. We disclose all information on each horse in an honest and clear fashion so that the adopter has enough knowledge to make the best choice possible.

  2. What is included in the adoption fee?

Every horse is evaluated by the WPH trainers for temperament, skill, and ability. We also get the advice of our vet on future limitations, if any, and any current health issues. The fee also includes all the manner, groundwork, and riding training. All horses up to date on shoeing, dental, vaccinations, and deworming. Some horses get chiropractic and PEMF treatments as needed. The adoption fee might be affected the longer they are here and more training they receive.

  3. What if I want to sell or give away the horse in the future?

All future ownership transfers must be approved by Win Place Home in writing. We are fully aware that situations change and that might be a potential future possibility for our horses. However, as a charity, we are responsible for their safety for the rest of their lives. We must know where the horse is and that they are being well taken care of.

  4. Do you adopt outside the state and/or outside the US?

Yes! However no matter where the horse is going the adopter is always responsible for shipping costs. We do have great transportation recommendations. The coggins and health certificate will be the responsibility of Win Place Home.

  5. How often will the horse be checked on by WPH?

We try to check up on our horses after the first 3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months and then once a year. We want to make sure we have the correct address on file and any pictures and updates are greatly appreciated.

  6. Can I do a PPE before adopting?

Of course, that is definitely an option for adopters. We do require the PPE to be done by an approved vet, we have recommendations if needed.
